Low DR Sites and High Traffic eCom Site

General SEO Stuff, eCom

I’ve recently discovered a guy on YouTube called SEO Truths.

I like his content, it’s a bit more edgy and interesting than a lot of the other more high-brow stuff that I watch.

Anyway, here’s a summary of this video that I am keeping for my record keeping.

Finding E-commerce Niche Sites

To find niche e-commerce sites with low competition, use the following strategy:

  1. Search for browsing keywords using terms like “best”
  2. Filter results by the lowest domain rating
  3. Exclude irrelevant brands or products
  4. Look for opportunities with low keyword difficulty and high search volume
  5. Explore the top pages and domains to identify potential opportunities for competition

In regards to e-commerce site metrics and success criteria, it is emphasized that traffic and success metrics are relative. For a starter e-commerce site, getting 2,000 to 10,000 visitors per month is considered good, with an average conversion rate of 1 to 3%.

This translates to around 30 to 50 orders per 1,000 visitors, resulting in 300 to 500 orders per month. With an average order value and profit margin, this can lead to a decent monthly profit for a smaller e-commerce shop.

Doing eCom SEO in Hong Kong

Here are some core principles for doing e-commerce SEO in Hong Kong:

Localized Keyword Research: Conduct thorough keyword research to identify and prioritize localized keywords that resonate with Hong Kong consumers. Consider both English and traditional Chinese keywords to cater to a wider audience.

Content Localization: Create high-quality content in both English and traditional Chinese that is culturally relevant and addresses the specific needs and preferences of the Hong Kong market.

Mobile Optimization: Given the high mobile usage in Hong Kong, ensure that your e-commerce website is mobile-friendly and loads quickly on mobile devices. Google’s mobile-first indexing is crucial for SEO.

Local SEO: Optimize for local search by including Hong Kong-specific information such as addresses, phone numbers, and business hours. Register your business on Google My Business and other local directories.
